Father, I fall to my knees before You. Let Your power infuse my weakness. Let nothing steal away the love I have for You in my heart. Danger lurks around every moment. The riches of this world are tempting and seductive. The hypocrisy of certain teaching can be thrust like a barb into my thoughts until doubt bleeds into the truth You have mended my soul with. Days of affluence lead to forgetfulness when I stray from the path because I got ahead of the light You offer me. My God, let my eyes not get used to the darkness. Let my feet not grow selfish confidence by blazing their own trail. Jesus, let me follow You and only You. Make my love burn in radiant flame until all that I am and all that I do is an authentic representation of who I am in You. Keep me from falling into the mischievous pit of worldly concern as I fix my eyes on Your Shepherd’s staff to lead me through the minefield of my sojourning on this earth. Do not dispense with Your watchfulness over me, Lord. I need Your constant correction along the course. Under the Word given in John 8:12 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
