Lord, though the longing is often severe, I do not wish to enter Your Kingdom until the work assigned to me is complete. Truly, the rest is made all the more sweet after the sojourning. The security is greatly appreciated after traversing the battlefield of temptation. What a glorious day it will be when I can lay down my battered armor and take up the robe of righteousness purchased by Your blood. What a blessed day when my scars will be understood and laid upon Your altar as a testament to Your glory. Take all that I am, Lord Jesus, and place it as a jewel within Your crown. Lead me in a life that brings honor to Your great Name. Let the power of Your Spirit be my sustenance and my weapon against the enemy. For You have declared me Your workmanship. You have made me, resurrected me and called me by Your Name. Let the triumph of my endurance be to Your credit alone, God. It is for Your honor that I persevere. It is for Your love that I press on toward the goal for the higher calling in Christ. Father, I surrender my longings to You, knowing that Your timing is perfect. Only You can know when it is finished. Under the Word of truth in Philippians 3:13-14 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it.
But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind
and straining toward what is ahead,
I press on toward the goal to win the prize
for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 3:13-14, NIV
It is for Your honor that I persevere. It is for Your love that I press on toward the goal for the higher calling in Christ–Amen!
