Today’s Prayer

I crawl upon weakened knees to the throne of the King. Father, You are the great Physician. You are the Maker and Restorer of the physical as well as the spiritual. I bask in the hope that my sins have been covered by You, Jesus. Yet, the distraction of physical pain often tempts me to despair. Come to Your beloved when the distraction leads me to places my heart does not want to go. Restore me to the peace You promised. I bow in humility for Your nearness despite my infirmity. Lord, when others turn away, You enter into the space where Your children need You most. When disease isolates and pain deceives, You commune with truth that restores. Let me be of good cheer regardless of how long the healing takes. Let me triumphantly carry the cross given me by Your hand if it is deemed necessary according to Your will. Teach me how to walk in the strength of Your Spirit when my physical body is too weak to carry on. Show me how to praise in the deluge of distracting pain because Your stripes have healed me. Grant my weakened knees the ability to stand and follow Your bloodied footsteps to the threshold of Your Kingdom. Under the Word given in Matthew 16:24-25 and the authority of Christ, I pray.

Then Jesus said to His disciples,
“Whoever wants to be My disciple must deny themselves
and take up their cross and follow Me.

For whoever wants to save their life will lose it,
but whoever loses their life for Me will find it.”
Matthew 16:24-25, NIV
