Today’s Prayer

Lord in heaven, look upon Your helpless one with the abundant measure of mercy my tainted soul needs. You have taught those who follow You to make themselves ready. Show me how, my Lord and my God. Let there be enough oil to keep my lamp burning into the darkest hour of night. Jesus, fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that when the night seasons of this worldly existence encroaches on my fiery faith, no measure of adversity will keep my light from shining for Your Name’s sake. Grant me strength to dig the trenches in anticipation of the downpour of hope that will come after the dry season of apostasy. Keep me awake in Your Word because You will come like a thief in the night; and I do not want to be oblivious to Your revelation. Your tender invitation to the wedding feast is my precious treasure. Let me never make plans that are inattentive to the call of readiness in waiting. Tune my ears to listen for Your approach. Keep my eyes fixed in the direction of Your arrival. Steady my eager heart as I long for Your embrace which ushers me into the Kingdom of my God. Under the Word given in Matthew 25:1-5, 13 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

At that time the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.  Five of them were foolish and five were wise.  The foolish ones took their lamps but did not take any oil with them.  The wise ones, however, took oil in jars along with their lamps. The bridegroom was a long time in coming, and they all became drowsy and fell asleep. Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.
Matthew 25:1-5, 13, NIV
