Today’s Prayer

My Lord, let Your divine love quench the thirstiness of my soul. O God, my selfish pursuits have drawn me into a dry and weary land where there is no water to be found. In my rebellious wandering I have been heading toward the fire of divine wrath. Jesus, You saw my wretched state and with merciful compassion You went to the cross in my place. Only You could light the holy flame of love to burn eternally in my heart. Your fire of grace leaves my soul unscathed from the wrath I deserve. Kindle the contents of my heart until I keep in step with the deliverance awarded me. Move my feet in revelatory praise because divine indignation is no longer the banner over me. For Your banner over me is love. My Lord, continually subdue the relentless spiritual antagonism of my heart. Douse the flaming covetousness that consistently distracts me. Forgive my burning affections when they distract me from You. Remove me from temptation, Lord. Sing Your perpetual song over me, drowning out the chaos with the chord of peace. Never allow the melody of love to be disrupted by life’s demands. Rather, fill my entire soul with the holiness of Your Spirit until I am one with You, eternally bound and lovingly satisfied. Under the mighty and beautiful truth in Romans 5:7-8 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

For rarely will someone die for a just person—though for a good person perhaps someone might even dare to die.  But God proves His own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:7-8, CSB
