Today’s Prayer

Oh God, against the mighty goliaths that provoke me to battle I take my stand beneath the canopy of Your omnipotence. Let me not be afraid. When I have wandered into the shadowy forest of deceit where darkness threatens to consume me through hidden pits of temptation, may Your light reveal to me the way of escape. When the persistent schemes of the enemy wear me down, let me cling to You, Jesus, where I can find my rest. My soul rejoices in the Lord until all fears are hushed. My heart delights in my Savior because He is worthy. He is my light and my salvation. He is the essence of the strength available to me for life. Pour truth into my wounded soul, Lord, like a balm that heals. Vanquish the enemy that hinders the way You would have me go. For though I present as my weapons tiny pebbles of faith, it is Your propulsion of love that makes a single rock hit its mark, destroying that which stands opposed to the will of my God, to the majesty of all that He has declared good. Under the mighty Word of truth in Psalm 27:1-3 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in humble prayer.

The Lord is my light and my salvation—
    whom shall I fear?
The Lord is the stronghold of my life—
    of whom shall I be afraid?
When the wicked advance against me
    to devour me,
it is my enemies and my foes
    who will stumble and fall.
Though an army besiege me,
    my heart will not fear;
though war break out against me,
    even then I will be confident.
Psalm 27:1-3, NIV
