Today’s Prayer

Sovereign Lord and Almighty King, my heart bursts with joyful praise because You have claimed me as Your own. By Your all-consuming conquest of my heart, I have fully surrendered to Your reigning power within me and through me. Jesus, it is so sweet to hear the sound of my name coming from Your heart. Teach me how to follow in the footsteps of love, Lord. Let my life be an acknowledgement of You. May my actions be in obedience to You. May my words be in honor of You. Without Your love coursing through every aspect of my life, I am nothing but emptiness. Help me to wait patiently for Your timing, Lord. Forgive my eager anticipation of making Your plans move along faster than You might will it. Touch my actions with kindness that infects the world around me, showing others how great You are. Enable me not to envy those whose walk with You I admire and let me not boast when Your favor rests on me. Surely, I do not deserve the grace extended to me, but I gladly remain beneath its shelter as evidence of Your love’s perfecting power. Vanquish the arrogant tendencies within me because all victories in my life belong to You. Forgive me for the lingering selfish inclinations that often tempt me to insist on my own way rather than wait for Your mysterious ways to unfold. Father, shield me from the permeating power of deceit and invite me daily to worship You in spirit and in truth. In You, Jesus, I fully hope, I firmly believe and I can endure all things. Thank You, Lord God, for the sovereignty of Your never-ending love. Under the mighty Word of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant  or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;  it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth.  It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8, NRSV
