O Sovereign LORD, who am I that You have brought me to this point in life? Who am I that You would lavish Your divine love on someone like me? I am on the path You have set before me. Yet I find the darkness envelopes me. My ears quicken to the sound of Your voice for my heart is drawn to You. Your whispers surround me in the warmth of Your protection as You minister to my heart with Your mighty words: “There are times, my child, when I will deliver you from the darkness and there are times when I will deliver you through the darkness. Why do you worry about tomorrow when each day has enough trouble of its own?” Silently, I crumble beneath the weight of Your words. “Forgive me, my LORD, for I have gone ahead of You into the darkness of the future. Let me back up so that I am following You; for Your light leads my way.” What tendency is this of mine to walk in front of my LORD? O Spirit of the Sovereign LORD, grant me the strength to follow Jesus for I do not like my own way. My soul will rejoice in my Savior because He never leaves me alone in the darkness. Thank You, O LORD Almighty, for pulling me back from my wanderings. You have removed the entanglements of my heart by weeding me of everything I picked up while I ventured into enemy territory. Let Your divine love guide my way for now and for eternity. The path You have set me upon is entirely good, O LORD. Your path leads me away from the dark woods of pride. Your path is steady so that I will not fall into a pit. Your path leads me to the bright, open spaces where my heart and soul belong. May my feet tread only upon the path of my LORD, Jesus Christ, as I make my way to His Kingdom. Under the Word of Psalm 16:8,11 and the authority of Christ Jesus I bow before You in humble prayer.
I have set Yahweh always before me.
Because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
You will show me the path of life.
In Your presence is fullness of joy.
In Your right hand there are pleasures forever more.
Psalm 16:8,11, WEB
You have removed the entanglements of my heart by weeding me of everything I picked up while I ventured into enemy territory–Amen!
