I honor You, O Sovereign King, because You have chosen one as lowly and unworthy as me. You, my God, have battled the enemy so that I was released from my pit of deception. Though my voice was small, You heard my despair and redeemed me. My Savior, You lifted me out of the depths of darkness and rescued me from the suffocation of despair. Let the lyrics of my praise song be music to Your ears for I will glorify Your holy Name. For so long I had my back turned from You. For so long I did not follow in Your ways. How gracious are You, O LORD, that Your displeasure is momentary and Your love is unfailing. How my heart aches for Your favor, my LORD. How my soul grieves for time lost. I have spent too much time weeping for myself. But now, in You, I finally have joy. When I was on my own, I thought I could do anything without Your help. Until You made Yourself known to me, I had not realized my own weakness nor recognized my own deception. When You let me fall, O LORD, it terrified me. And yet Your strong arms caught me up. And yet I was spared from hitting the bottom. O Jesus, how I yearn for Your favor. There is no gain in selfish pursuit. Thank You for being my helper, O LORD. Thank You for turning my darkness into light. You have removed my afflictions. You clothe me with Your righteousness. I will sing the song You have written upon my heart for my soul cannot help but magnify the LORD. In my yearning let me bring You glory. Under the authority of my Lord Christ Jesus and His precious Word found in Hebrews 13:6 I kneel in prayer.

So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?”
