I am listening, Father, Creator, Almighty God, my Lord and King. Too long I have tuned my ears to the discordant sounds of this world, utterly missing the sweet melodic strains of heaven calling. Gladly I retire awhile and wait upon Your voice. Prepare me to hear in the power of Your Spirit, Lord. I grant You secure entry into the garden of my soul where weeds are plenty and hedges of selfishness have become unruly. Trim me with Your divine tools, my Lord. Shape me into a beautiful reflection of what Your original design was. I stand at the gate and listen for Your knock upon my door. Speak to me in the love sonnets of Your Word which are seeds of beauty meant to blossom and bring forth the fragrance of Christ. Your matchless majesty is the true sunlight of my soul. Take my heart, my mind and my life; and let it be Yours Jesus. Deal with Your beloved in tenderness that recreates Your reflection. I hear Your loving kindness and I do not deafen my response. For Yours is a song of life which You delight to sing over me. Make me a listener who absorbs all that You say and puts it into action as I dance through the pages of this life with the author of my soul story. Under the mighty Word given in Psalm 34:8-11 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in prayer.
Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.
Fear the Lord, you His holy people,
for those who fear Him lack nothing.
The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
Come, my children, listen to Me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
Psalm 34:8-11, NIV
