Lord, when trespassing thoughts threaten to plunge me into despair, it is Your mighty arm that grabs hold of my soul in peace. Forgive Your beloved for the careless retreat and vain distractions that move my heart away from You until only Your divine fingertips are touching it. Lord Jesus, restore me to the full grip that encircles my weary heart with the entirety of Your hand. My heart is Yours. I belong to You. There is no cloud too dark that You cannot illuminate it with light. For even the clouds have the necessary purpose of bringing rain to parched soil. Let the storms rage around me. I will not be afraid because Your presence is my comfort. Thank You God for dispelling the anguish of loneliness that confuses my heart with a distortion of unworthiness. The life You have shown me testified to Your worth. Let Your beloved be a reflection of all that You are. Make every beat of my heart a worship, every breath a praise to my King. In the depths with You is where I always want to be, Jesus. Under the Word of truth graciously given in Psalm 42:1-3, 5 and the authority of Christ, I pray.
As a deer pants for flowing streams,
so pants my soul for You, O God.
My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and appear before God?
My tears have been my food
day and night.
Why are you cast down, O my soul,
and why are you in turmoil within me?
Hope in God; for I shall again praise Him,
my salvation and my God.
Psalm 42:1-3, 5
There is no cloud too dark that You cannot illuminate it with light–Amen!
