Lord God, hear the prayers of Your child and let my heart be grateful for Your listening inclinations. For I know that You did not place me in this world out of necessity. No, it was for the purpose of revealing Your glory that I was made. So I plead for understanding that draws me into the depths of Your heart, for the memory that recalls Your faithfulness in distressing seasons and for the strength to love as You have loved me. Help me, Holy Spirit, to reject all contrary actions to the will of my King. Let me despise the vain and superfluous worldly desires which I once gripped with ferocious tendency. Invite me to live beyond the inconsequential satisfaction from a measure of earthly success. Make me Kingdom-minded, Lord. For if my thoughts are not mindful of You they are only a snare to my soul. If I forget You, then where will my remembrances lead me? If I do not feed on Your truth, Jesus, but gorge myself on lying vanities, how will I ever live? By the resurrection power of Christ Jesus, let me renounce the vanity of selfish pursuit and the frivolity of worldly desire. Turn me to the horizon of Kingdom glory and holy affection for only You, Lord Jesus. Under the Word given in Matthew 16:23 and the authority of Christ I bow in humble prayer.
