Today’s Prayer

Lord God, I am astonished by the grace that has captured me from the cross. You swung the net wide and collected a dying fish like me. How could I have known that the worldly waters I swam in were so polluted? Forgive me, Jesus, when I rendered the Spirit’s inspiration for fruitless stirrings. How many of our promptings have I missed? Create in me a loyal conviction that willingly submits even if full understanding remains beyond my reach. Make Your servant a holy investment for the Kingdom. Chisel me into Christ-likeness, making whole what once was broken. Enable me to breathe the oxygen of heaven even while swimming in the pollution of this world. Transform my selfishness into a self-less-ness that loves as You have loved me. I embrace Your daily counsel through the Word, Lord. I look to You to point out the discrepancy in the way I live. Reveal the blind spots, old wounds, and lingering pride which defile and taint the message You proclaim through Your servants. Holy Yours is what I long to be – taken out of the water of this world and free to swim in the cleansing sea of eternal love. Under the mighty Word of the Lord in Matthew 13:47-48 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.

Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered some fish of every kind, which, when it was filled, fishermen drew up on the beach. They sat down and gathered the good into containers, but the bad they threw away.
