I will praise You, keeper of my heart. When my thoughts dwell on Your goodness Lord, my day is cheered and the night seasons are brightened by the light of divine love. When I worship Your mighty works, my burdens are lifted and all sorrow softens by the glow of eternal light. Your presence, Jesus, shines a perfecting radiance over the most superficial of human emotions so that I am not blinded by deceptive feelings. I delight in Your counsel and grace, Lord. You have given my heart many reasons to sing. You have struck up melodies within my soul by writing the music of Your Holy Word with Your very finger upon my heart and mind. Only Your powerful Spirit can weave a song of praise out of the discordant sounds of tragedy and trial in my life. Present joy is the refrain to past deliverance. Stir me up in the morning Lord, as You scatter the day’s first light upon the earth. Open my eyes to see Your wonder and let my entire being answer in praise. Under the Word of the Lord given so graciously in Psalm 146:1-2 and the authority of Christ I pray.
Praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
I will praise the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.
Psalm 146:1-2, ESV
