Today’s Prayer

Father, You work everything according to the design of infinite wisdom. Let me not question Your ways even when logic inclines me to do so. Your will is perfect and just. Forgive me for the selfish bent of my heart that consistently contends with You. Who am I to question Your design and the mystery of Your unfolding goodness? For I know that You work all things for good in the ultimate sense. Your divine counsel is my refuge in confusing times. Your omniscience is my solace when my heart weeps aggrieved by offense. How comforting to know that my pain is not hidden from You. How sweet to understand that You hurt for what has hurt me. You are my God, who has numbered the hairs of my head. You are the One who knows my thoughts before a word forms on my lips. Let my innermost sanctuary of the soul be made holy by Your indwelling Spirit. I need You, Lord Jesus. You, who knows the end from the beginning, and weighs the balance of my tribulations. Only You know what my heart can truly endure. I trust You, Father. Lead me to the rock that is higher. Under the Word given in Psalm 61:2-3 and the authority of Christ, I pray.

Lead me to the rock
    that is higher than I,
for You have been my refuge,
a strong tower against the enemy.
Psalm 61:2-3, ESV
