Today’s Prayer

In the tranquility of complete surrender, Lord God, I delight in Your unchanging promises. Let me lean on Your mighty arm of grace as I limp along the path toward the eternal destination You have mapped out for those called by Your Name. The road is narrow, Jesus. You have warned me so that I could more easily recognize the way. You have secured my steps in the holiness of faith which trusts in Your promise never to leave or forsake me. Father, when the road becomes treacherous and my deceiving heart tempts me to take the easier way, Your promise echoes across the dark valley through which the narrow path proceeds. When I pass through the fire, You will be with me. When the waters flood around me, I will not be consumed. And though the formidable mountains appear to block my path Lord, my trembling, weary soul is reminded of Your Word. If my faith, even as small as a mustard seed, says to the mountain ‘move’ – it will be moved. Truly, nothing can stand in the way of Your will, Father. You work all things for the good of those who love You in truth and devotion. As my shepherd You lead me to the greener pastures where my soul finds rest for the next stretch of the journey. My Jesus, let me follow this narrow way which has been revealed in You. This narrow way mapped out by the bloody footprints of sacrificial love. Even if it is obscured by the shadows of my own folly, Lord, give my eyes the faith to truly see. I only want to follow You because You are the keeper of the incorruptible version of my heart. Under the Word of truth as given in Isaiah 43:2-3 and the authority of Christ Jesus I pray.

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
    and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you shall not be burned,
    and the flame shall not consume you.
For I am the Lord your God,
    the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
Isaiah 43:2-3, ESV
