Today’s Prayer

The ebbing flow of earthly comforts knows nothing of the providence revealed to me. For every child of the Most High God is no longer bound to the things that possess only worldly value. The roots of the soul tap into the eternal joy of salvation offered upon the cross. Jesus, You are the light and life of my countenance. In Your strength I can resist the enticements that so easily ensnare my wavering heart. Keep my spirit steadfast by abiding in You through prayer, meditation and service. Your friendship is the buoy that keeps me from sinking when the floodwaters of trouble vex my existence. Your glorious mercy is as abundant as a fresh rain in the springtime. Your unending love is fresh and full and free. May I perpetually live in that freedom. When my heart trembles with anxiety, the faintest whisper of Your promises calms me. There is no efficacy of worldly comfort that can bring my soul peace. Only You, my Jesus, can lift up my droopy spirit. Only You can cleanse my open wounds with the golden balm of grace. And when my heart grows weary, Your strong arms transport me further down the path of my eternal destiny. Your sovereign love is my course. For though I merited eternal doom, You have lifted the curse of my fate with the power of mercy. Lord, this rebel is forever grateful for all You have accomplished. I am Yours to command. Under the Word of truth in Galatians 5:1, 5-6 and the authority of Christ Jesus I bow in humble prayer of gratitude.

For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. For through the Spirit, by faith, we ourselves eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith working through love.
Galatians 5:1, 5-6, ESV
