Today’s Prayer

My Lord, let the roots of faith’s flower perpetually drink from the never-ending supply of Your Living Water. Make my heart overflow with true love until the blossom of abiding hope in Christ gives off a heavenly fragrance of divine love. Forgive Your servant for holding back even a portion of my innermost being. Jesus, I want You to dwell not only in my thoughts but in my heart and in my soul as well. I do not want Your Spirit to be an occasional guest but a landlord and tenant of my entire being. My Lord, You are not a casual occupant of my affections and desires. You are the architect and builder of all that I am. Truly, my heart pants for Your presence. This love, born of faith, is more than a flickering flame that bursts intensely for a short while before diminishing into the cool darkness of simmering embers. Let such a cooling not be so, Lord. For the flame of my faith is fueled in Your Word, Your promises, Your love. The flame of my faith is constant, a hope set in salvation’s completed works – like the holy fire set upon the altar that never goes out. Lord, wrap the roots of every aspect of my life around You with fervent delight. You have planted me in the eternal soil of love. My growth is entrusted to You, Lord Jesus, my Savior. Under the mighty Word of truth in John 15:1-3 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in adoring prayer.

I am the true Vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that continues to bear fruit, He [repeatedly] prunes, so that it will bear more fruit [even richer and finer fruit]. You are already clean because of the word which I have given you [the teachings which I have discussed with you].
