Today’s Prayer

Lord Jesus, Keeper of my heart and Designer of my soul, I thank You for going before me as guide and protector. Only You could defeat my enemies and clear the path of life from the obstructions meant to thwart me. When my soul grows weary from the battle, I can take heart because I know that You have already slain the final enemy on my behalf. When the snare of condemnation threatens my joy with dread, Your presence reminds me that all my sin was nailed to the cross and cast as far as the east is from the west. Death no longer presents a challenge to me because You have already met it head on and decapitated it with the powerful slice of love. No fear of hell can rob Your beloved of peace because You have overcome every foe, crossed the gulf of perdition and cleared the way for reconciliation. Jesus, in Your mighty power You have defanged the serpent who strikes with the venom of temptation. You have broken the teeth of the lion who confuses my faith with deceptive lies based on worldly concerns. Over the mighty rivers of adversity, You have built the bridge of eternal trust. And in the naked vulnerability of confessional prayer, You have granted me the beautiful robe of grace which renders me immune from the fires of wrath. Mighty God, I thank You for putting me within the enveloping love of Your Son where all power to harm my soul is rendered impotent. Take me joyously along the journey, Lord, until I reach the ultimate destination. Under the Word of truth in 1 Corinthians 15:54-55 and the authority of my blessed Savior, Christ Jesus, I bow in humble prayer.

But when this perishable body will have become imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then what is written will happen: “Death is swallowed up in victory.”  “Death, where is your sting Hades, where is your victory?”
1 Corinthians 15:54-55, WEB
