Lord, my soul desires richness toward You and poverty in regard to the trappings of this world. Set my heart on eternal gain so that I can count it all joy to face the fiery trials which come upon me. Do not let me remain safely in my husk of comfortable ignorance, Lord God. Thresh me out of such a useless state of existence and bake me into bread reflective of Christ through the fiery trials that come upon me. My Father in heaven, only Your mighty Spirit can sever the ties to this world that keep the balloon of my heart from floating heavenward on the invisible but propelling fire of truth that rises above the selfish deceit defining the culture. Grant me sacred courage to rise to new heights of perspective even if my thinking contrary to this world’s standards produces affliction that seems impossible to bear. Knowing Your nearness, Jesus, and clinging to the promise that You will never leave me, produces in Your servant a holy valor to fight in Your great Name with the undefeatable weapon of love. Truly, Your providence controls all things. I know that You would not have allowed a trial unless it would strengthen my faith. Your purposes are good, Lord God, and I trust them entirely. Equip me to march forth in this battle however long it takes to get to the other side where rest awaits my soul because Your arms are open wide to revive Your beloved. Under the mighty Word of grace given in Romans 8:36-37 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I pray.
As it is written, “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Romans 8:36-37, ESV
