Today’s Prayer

My Father in heaven, I embrace the mystery which is the beauty of who You are. Let me not find shelter beneath the boughs of the tree of knowledge when the tree of life offers foliage that never withers as the seasons change. My own pursuit of understanding is limited by my finite existence. For Your providence is beyond ordinary. You blessings astound as Your grace is magnified by the mystery of Your all-encompassing love toward one as unworthy as myself. Truly, I do not need to know why when I know You, Jesus. May the sight of my eyes not seek satisfaction with the temporal and frivolous beauties of this world. Rather, let me feel the enfolding mercy of Your invitation into the deep heart of Your eternal mysteries where comprehension becomes an unnecessary distraction to the intimacy of Your truth. Your Spirit is the gift that grants my soul understanding, which fulfills the purpose of glorifying You. Your Spirit is the gift of discernment that reminds me of my place in the universe. I was not designed to grasp the wind in my hands or walk upon the surface of the sun. So let me not waste time in seeking understanding for the complexities of life. Rather, let me utilize the beautiful strength of life’s mystery upon the cross in the life given me to live. Truly, the shade of the tree of life protects me from the scorching heat and bitter cold of a seasonal world. Under the mighty Word of truth found in Ephesians 1:7-10 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in prayer.

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace, which He lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of His will, according to His purpose, which He set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in Him, things in heaven and things on earth.
Ephesians 1:7-10, ESV
