My Father in heaven, prune the luscious boughs of this tree until I can produce fruit worthy of the Kingdom. May the deadness of pleasurable pursuits or the distraction of self-satisfying goals no longer rob the sap of faith. Truly, my growth is stunted unless, by Your Spirit, I partake of the transforming power of Your love. The abundant rains of Your truth water my parched heart, Lord. The sunshine of Your hope in resurrection nourishes my withered soul back to life. Lord, my roots reach deep toward the Living Water that is my Jesus. The tendrils of my unworthy self wrap securely around Your incorruptible heart. It is only there, within the security of Your love, that I can rest assured because I do not need to fear the storm. I thank You for the peace You give me, Lord. A peace not of this world but of a faith securely rooted in Your heart. Create good fruit through the branches of my life, Lord. Under the beauty of the Word given by Your lips in John 15:1-3 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in humble and adoring prayer.
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you.”
John 15:1-3, ESV
