Lord Jesus, my greatest delight is to sit at Your feet. The guidance of Your counsel as I review the day You have given me is invaluable to my faith journey. What an awe-inspiring privilege it is to confess my iniquity to the One who holds the power of redemption. What a true blessing to bring every decision to the only Shepherd who truly knows the way. My heart beats with gratitude that I can come without pretense just as I am and throw myself at Your feet, anointing You with my tears. Jesus, You are the only counselor who comforts me in my distress by showing me love when I need it most. Increase my loving response to You, my Savior. Make Your Word come alive in me and through me. Enable those called by Your Name to live worthy of the Kingdom. And when You send me to rise from sitting at Your feet, let Your servant go into the field fully equipped for the task of harvest. Equipped with love, compassion, discernment and trust, may I use all that You have given me with the powerful accuracy of Your Holy Spirit’s momentum. And when this worker gets weary, I thank You that I can fall upon Your feet for the perpetual replenishment I need. So I return to Your feet, Lord Jesus, kissing the scars that represent the depth of reconciling love. Under the beauty of the Word given in Luke 7:37-38 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in humble prayer.
And behold, a woman of the city, who was a sinner, when she learned that He was reclining at table in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster flask of ointment, and standing behind Him at His feet, weeping, she began to wet His feet with her tears and wiped them with the hair of her head and kissed His feet and anointed them with the ointment.
