The toils of life bring me to my knees in front of Your altar, Lord God. It is in this place, in this position, that You lift me up with the favor of Your friendship. With remembrances of Your faithful kindness and relentless love, I find rest in who You are, who You have been and who You will be to me. A steadfast companion, a Savior and Sovereign King. What a blessed privilege to know You and be claimed by You, Lord Jesus. Truly, I am not invisible to the God who sees. I am not insignificant to the Lord who lives. Let me not approach You with doubt or fear unbefitting of a close relationship. Your perfect love has driven fear away. Reveal Yourself to me in renewing strength. Tune my ears to listen for the whispers of reconciling truth in Scripture. Only You can speak to my soul in a way that deafens me to the clamor of the world. I gladly embrace the power, energy and sweetness of Your Word. When I gaze upon Your heart and listen to its song, my worries and troubles dissolve away. I can rise up off my knees and walk the path set before me. The narrow way leads me home because Your friendship is my restoration amidst the toils of this life. Under the power of the Word given in John 15:15 and the authority of Christ I pray.
No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from My Father, I have made known to you.
