Truly it is for my liberty in the Spirit that You have condescended to teach a fool like me, Lord. Compared to Your wisdom, what is man but an ignorant beast with only finite knowledge of the times he lives within? I humbly bow in gratitude for the mighty gift of Your Word. Standing alone, it should have been enough to instruct us, but You are a Teacher filled with passion for the progress of Your disciples. The Word became flesh and dwelled among us. You embodied the lesson of love, the greatest lesson of all, through Your Son. With the sweet intimacy of private instruction that came at a cost only my Father in heaven could pay, Your Spirit indwelled me. And even with such grace I have much more to learn. Lord, demolish the ignorant, selfish boundaries I have constructed around the unexpected circumstances of life. There is liberty in the freedom You have granted those who trust in You. I do not have to know why when I know Who. Help me learn the necessary lessons, Lord. The tests that will shape me into Your likeness are invaluable. Speak to me in answered prayer as much as You instruct me in ones not answered as I expected. Grant me a teachable heart because You are the only Teacher my soul can truly learn from. Under the beautiful Word given in John 1:14 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I come to the altar in prayer.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
John 1:14, ESV
Yes. Lord. Grant us a teachable spirit!
