Lord, let my heart be emptied of its toxic contents. Remove the stains penetrating my soul. Only the power of Your holiness can accomplish such a daunting task. When the eyes of my heart are turned in holy wonder to consider all the world Your hand has made, my singularly steady breaths can hardly be taken for granted. The mighty display of this universe as each star comes out at night to make a mark on the darkness humbles me before You, the One who calls those lights out by name. Though it feels as if all within me is darkness Lord, You have put a light inside of my soul. By the power of Your Spirit let it shine for Your glory. Despite the clouds of adversity and the filter of selfish desire, let my heart become a beacon of truth, of grace and of love. Jesus, You went to great lengths to rescue me from this present darkness. You gave it all so that I could become Your gift. I need You, my Savior. Without You, I am nothing but a shadow. In You, I am a lamp set upon the table. Use Your servant, Lord, to shine in whatever room Your hands place me. Under the beauty of the Word found in Matthew 5:14-16 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in humble prayer.

You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.
