My Lord and my God, lift the song of the night from my heart to my lips in praise. When the light has faded and I can scarcely see the notes of faith, of hope, of love anymore, it is You who inspires me to sing until the ground begins to shake and those prison doors break open. Infuse the lyrics of this mysterious melody with truth that captivates my soul and protects me from folly. For my midnight song is merely a refrain, an echo of the heavenly chorus my heart strains to listen to – a song that reminds me ‘It is well with my soul.’ Father, inspire me to sing when my body languishes on its bed. Cover me with the quiet melody when the dark seasons overtake the landscape of my soul. Teach me, Lord Jesus, to make music with You even in the affliction. Only Your divine fingertips can strum the strings of my heart in such a beautiful way. Under the mighty Word of the Lord found in John 16:33 and the authority of Christ I bow in humble prayer.
I have told you these things, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have trouble; but cheer up! I have overcome the world.
John 16:33, WEB
