Today’s Prayer

My Lord, I am thankful that You know the utter folly of my heart and its tendency to blame when You do not answer my prayers according to expectation. Gracious lover of my soul, I rejoice that You do not take offense at my ill manners because You delight to cover my iniquity with grace. Unfavorable thoughts are not in Your repertoire; for You are not mindful of my rebellious actions of selfishness. If I confess my sin, You are willing to pardon and eager to love despite the offense. I thank You for not cherishing unsavory assessments of me, Lord. How often do I linger with such unfortunate judgments on my neighbors! How easily do I make a mountain out of a slight. How I forget the example of Your love, Lord. Though I wander from You and incessantly grieve Your Holy Spirit, Your perfect love is not tainted by my faults and incapacities. Let me not restrain from treating others as You have seen fit to treat me, Lord. Make me an extension of forgiveness; for judgment is Yours, not mine. What peace is this that my heart can rest in satisfaction and delight because I do not need to concern myself with correcting the behaviors of others as long as I walk in faith and speak truth in love. Jesus, You bore the scars so that mine could be completely cleansed. Rid me of the shackles of expectations that I not only place on myself but on others as well. It is for freedom that You have set Your beloved free. Under the Word given and received in Galatians 5:1 and the authority of Christ, my King, I bow in humble, preparatory prayer.

It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
Galatians 5:1, NASB
