My blessed Lord and glorious King, keep me from wasting time entertaining futile questions. May the pondering posture of my heart remain holy intact. Let me not wander down paths my mind was never intended to follow. Your Word is my guide and my boundary, Lord. Where You are silent on a matter, let me not speak in selfish ignorance. Where prophecy remains shrouded in mystery, let me not supply unfounded answers. May every discussion be enveloped in love, not a pooling of ignorance that leads to conflict. Grant me the wisdom to avoid provocation by not engaging in futile attempts to offer my understanding instead of Your holy, infallible truth. For You have given Your servants much more important tasks in this world than wasting time in unworthy contentions or needless striving. So put on my heart the desire for honest answers to true and holy questions. Put in my mind a submissiveness to Your Spirit that will keep me well within the boundaries of wisdom and far from folly. May I continue to ask the right question every day – how much did I love You, Lord and how well did I live it out? Under the beautiful assurance of Your Word in 1 Corinthians 13:1-2 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I pray.
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:1-2, ESV
Put in my mind a submissiveness to Your Spirit that will keep me well within the boundaries of wisdom and far from folly–Amen!
