My Heavenly Father, my soul delights to make Your Kingdom the sole object of my contemplations. Lift my eyes beyond the horizon of this weary world and energize my faith-sight with eternal promise that far outweighs the heaviness of current affliction. Let me not waste the time given me with apathy concerning matters of devotion to You. Even in its feeble attempts to draw nearer, Lord, my heart longs for You to pull me close in Your loving power. Only Your mighty presence can grant me an effectual estimate of time as it folds into eternity. In my fleshly weakness I let my present circumstances engross my thoughts and exhaust me of all joy and peace. Only You can remind me that this is a transitory trifle not worthy of the power my flesh gives it. Only Your Spirit can lift the gauzy veil of earthly concern and blow away the thick clouds of my deceived thinking. Lord, break the barriers erected around my soul until my mind is reigned by thoughts of eternal significance that annihilate any majestic vanities of current circumstance. Grant me noble sensibilities that align my entire being with Your holy will. Obscure the flush of worldly desire and rightly render all pleasures thus offered to be lacking. Only You can reignite the languishing embers of faith doused by difficulties endured. My Lord, set my focus on things above until I remember that this too will pass away. It is Your love, Your Kingdom, Your Name that remains forever. So while I glance at the things which are seen, let my gaze remain set on the things unseen which You have revealed to my heart of faith. Under the richness of the Word in 2 Corinthians 4:17-18 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in humble prayer before the throne of my King.
For our momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.
2 Corinthians 4:17-18, NASB
AMEN
