Lord, let my thoughts dwell on You in holy affection, not fearful obligation. May the ponderings which capture my soul’s attention sink deep into Your heart, becoming more than the feathery requirement of religion which is easily blown away by the winds of this world. Your eternal attributes are far more interesting to behold than the conflict and drama so readily available amongst Your creation. Let my heart be seeded with gratitude as I contemplate Your grace and the depth of love which led You to the cross. Let my soul gravitate toward ethereal calmness as I think on Your works and wonders of mercy and revelation. God, my thoughts are prone to wander downward to the baseline of temporal concern. Grant me the eternal perspective that lifts my head heavenward and keeps my thoughts on the eternity of Your promises fulfilled. Only then will I truly be an ambassador of Kingdom value here on earth. To dwell on You perpetually is a great and humbling honor which stokes the fires of affection until my soul blazes in love. Lord, may my thoughts no longer be misplaced on that which is passing away. Jesus, You be the keeper of my thoughts and the focus of my soul now and in the days ahead. Under the Word mightily set forth in 1 Corinthians 14:20 and the authority of Christ I bow in thoughtful prayer.
