Lord Jesus, secure my steps along the narrow path of eternal life. Your Word is the walking stick I lean on so that my journey is worthy of the calling and election. Search the deepest recesses of my soul as I travel near You, Lord. May any lingering remnants of pride be transformed into humility. Faith is a gift You gave me, not a trait I was born with. Wherever I am easily provoked or offended Lord, transform my response from angry self-defense to gentleness. Show me how to retain the power You have given me as Your image-bearer by reminding me to treat others with the same measure of worth You allotted to me. And when I am harassed or ridiculed, remind me that You are my defender. As volatile as the world around me becomes, let me never lose my eagerness for peace and unity that does not compromise the integrity of my faith in You. Show me how to navigate the minefield of idolatry which has ensnared so many in the culture today. Lord, give me words that speak truth in love, words that cannot be refuted. I give You my tongue to tame and my feet to guide. I give You my heart to keep and my soul to redeem. I give You my love, Lord Jesus, now and always. Under the Word of God in Ephesians 4:15 and the authority of Christ, I pray.

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of Him who is the head, that is, Christ.
