My Father in heaven, let me drink deep draughts of the new wine, the eternal fruit of the vine, offered in the richness of Your Word. May I never approach Your presence with ambivalent expectation. Only You can strengthen me with divine empowering grace. My soul needs You, Jesus. Do not let my desire grow tepid or cold. The loss of sensing Your presence will bring corresponding sorrow to my soul. Your divine salvation is the solution for my heart’s deepest melancholy. Forgive me for trying to live my own way Lord when Your way is superior to my wretched selfishness. Repenting of this lethargy is the only thing that keeps me from backsliding. Arouse my heart, Lord, with meditative tendencies that draw me deeper into Your Word, vanquishing my vain and frivolous proclivities. Redefine me according to Your truth, Lord. Keep my perceptions heavenly focused. When my soul is downcast, You are the only One who can lift me up, Jesus. In You my thirst is quenched and my hunger is satisfied. Deepen my faith until my reflection of You is better today than it was yesterday. Under the Word given in Isaiah 35:3-4 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in adoring prayer.

Strengthen the feeble hands,
    steady the knees that give way;
say to those with fearful hearts,
    “Be strong, do not fear;
your God will come,

with divine retribution
