Today’s Prayer

Let me serve You, Lord God Almighty, with the engagement of my whole heart. Even if the call is far beyond the boundaries of my comfort, stir up my willingness with the confidence that can only come from the Spirit inside of me. You would never leave me alone in a task impossible to accomplish regardless of my personal weaknesses. May my head, my heart and my hands be entirely submitted for Your divine use. Keep me aligned with the purposes of Your will, Lord. There is a danger of turning Kingdom service into an idol, of answering a need rather than listening for Your call. Grant me the discernment to know the difference. Only You can supply the energy necessary for me to do what pleases You. And if You have designated rest for a season, let me honor that as Kingdom service, too. Thank You for the opportunities and lessons that come with service, but never let Your servant neglect the precious time spent sitting at Your feet. For the latter is the better choice. Thank You, Lord Jesus, that it is my heart You truly love, not my service. So let me do what You command with a heart filled by love. Under the Word of the Lord in Luke 10:40-42 and the authority of Christ I bow in holy prayer.

Martha was distracted with much serving, and she came up to Him, and said, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister left me to serve alone? Ask her therefore to help me.” Jesus answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, but one thing is needed. Mary has chosen the good part, which will not be taken away from her.”
