Today’s Prayer

Oh to wonder at the great and dazzling marvel of Your love, God. May my soul succumb to the depths of wonderment which draws me further into the precious authenticity of worship. Overwhelm my heart with a glimpse of Your majesty, Lord. Though I could never fully fathom the intensity of Your glory, even the merest reflection is enough to unravel every knot in my soul. And whether my adoration is expressed in song, in bowed prayer or silent reverence, may it forever transform me and reshape the priorities of my life. For You could have swept me away into the fiery pit of destruction. Yet, by Your choice alone, I have been redeemed. Not only that, but my Redeemer is my hero and my only understanding of love in its truest form. For You, Jesus, ransomed my soul by sacrificing Yourself. Such redemption is too marvelous for me to fathom. Only You could lower the scepter and extend divine grace to me, Jesus. Only You who left throne of heaven to set aside royalty and meet me at my despicable level could lift me up. So my soul gladly loses itself in wonder and worship. I bow in heartfelt gratitude when I dwell on what has been done and is being done still. In this glorious revelation may all earthly concern fade away. Keep my heart astonished, Lord, whether it struggles against sorrow, frustration, loneliness or anger. Oh to wonder at the great and dazzling endless marvel of Your love. Beneath the canopy of the Living Word of God in Philippians 2:5-8 and the authority of Christ I bow in prayer.

Make your own attitude that of Christ Jesus,
who, existing in the form of God,
did not consider equality with God
as something to be used for His own advantage.
Instead He emptied Himself
by assuming the form of a slave,
taking on the likeness of men.
And when He had come as a man
in His external form,
He humbled Himself by becoming obedient
to the point of death—
even to death on a cross.
Philippians 2:5-8, HCSB
