Lord of all Creation, the One who sets each named star in its galaxy, the One whose breath moves the wind and stirs up the sea, the One who turns the globe with daily precision and sets His gaze on me, I come before the altar incomplete without You. Every shed tear drips with imperfection. Every illness whispers defilement. When unholy thoughts derail faith, my awareness of imperfection ticks up a notch. When sin tempts me at the point of least resistance, defilement becomes a monster I am weary of fighting. Yet in Christ the imperfect has been made perfect. The defiled is thoroughly cleansed. It is in the rest of that promise that I find refuge. For every temptation You provide me a way of escape. Each unholy thought, when taken captive to You, is banished. In the midst of physical weakness brought on by sickness, I find spiritual strength in Christ who walked the path of suffering before me. And each tear shed while enduring the sorrows of life are collected in Your hands, Jesus, until the day that they are no more. So I come to the altar, the imperfect made perfect in Christ. I bow in holy gratitude, Lord, as You wrap my inner being with the cloak of salvation, depositing the Holy Spirit of God into my heart as a guarantee of the eternal perfection awaiting those who wholly trust in Your Name. Under the magnificent beauty of the Word in 2 Corinthians 5:4-5 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in prayer.

For while we are in this tent, we groan and are burdened, because we do not wish to be unclothed but to be clothed instead with our heavenly dwelling, so that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life. Now the One who has fashioned us for this very purpose is God, who has given us the Spirit as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.
