Instruct Your servant, Lord. Teach me in the way I should go. Let me not take a single step onto the path that leads to death. I come before You perplexed and in need of making a godly decision. You are the only One worth inquiring. Holy Father, You are my compass. Your heart as revealed in Your Word is my staff. Jesus, You are the captain of the ship of my soul. Steer me through this thick fog of indecision. Turn the massive wheel of my heart in the direction of Your will until my feet follow. With You at the head, I need not fear running aground on some rocky shore of discontent. My God, as You stand ready at the helm, I do not worry that an unforeseen shoal will damage my vessel. When I am tripped up by the quicksand of selfish anxiety, You are the only One who can pull me out. Let me remember that I am Your follower, therefore I must remain behind Your cloud of providence. May I never get ahead of You, Lord, carving my own path and ultimately falling into a pit or getting trapped by an enemy snare. You know the terrain of the future, Lord. My times are in Your hands. So I wait for Your lead. Under the mighty and holy Word of God set forth in Psalm 27:14 and the authority of Christ, my Savior, I bow in prayer.

Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.
