Lord Jesus, only You can wash my feet from the daily defilement of my walk as a child of God. Only Your love has the cleansing power to remove the penetrating stain of sin tainting the purity of my heart. What a magnificent grace is this that I can come before You not as a culprit trembling with fear of punishment but as a beloved child assured that my confession will be met with the cleansing power of divine love. Keep my heart ever penitent as I seek Your face, Lord. There is so much I desire to do but my sinful nature pulls me away from that which is good. Thankfully, You have invited me to seek You in loving confession when my offense against You is more than I can bear. Without the power of Your forgiveness to wash over me Lord, I would succumb to doubting Your love and keeping You at a distance. Grant me overwhelming sorrow for every transgression of the cross. Remind me that I have a place to go to lay down my burden. For I do not want to carry unnecessary loads that will slow my progression of faith. I may daily offend the One I love, but the One I love offers daily pardon. Truly, love casts out all fear. So I gladly set my feet before You, Lord, embarrassed by the filth but relieved at the touch of Your hand caressing me with living water. Under the mighty Word of God set forth in Romans 7:18 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I pray.
