Mighty Lord and blessed Father, keep Your servant ever watchful because the enemy certainly prowls around looking for that unguarded moment to seize me as his prey. Remind me in the power of Your Holy Spirit to remain armored in all the mighty gifts which the Lord has given to me. Truth, peace, salvation, faith, and love are my only protection against the defilement which sticks to the end of the flaming darts of the enemy’s accusations. Lord, keep my love burning white hot with devotion, a flame of holy intensity that cannot be doused by the enemy’s attempts to bring me down to lukewarm affection. You are my all and my everything, Jesus. Even when I must endure the darkest temptation, only Your grace can restore my soul to its holy position. There is no safety except in the abiding presence of Your perpetual love, Jesus. For even when I seek You in solitude, charmed by such privileged rendezvous with You, the enemy follows ever so stealthy in his attempts to distract and woo me with thoughts of this world. Let it not be so, Lord. Sanctify my attention so that it remains fixed on You, guarded against the blasphemous schemes of Satan and authentic in its desire to be a blessing in Your Name. And when my eyes grow dull Lord, keep watch over me as only You can do when the enemy prowls around seeking someone to devour. I cling to Your promise that nothing can snatch me out of Your hand. Under the Word of God set down in 1 Peter 5:8-9 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in prayer.

Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith, knowing that your brothers who are in the world are undergoing the same sufferings.
