In seasons of affliction there is sweet solace in remembering that I belong to the Lord. When the fiery trial overtakes me, I need only remember to whom I belong. Your holy promises are a gentle rain that douses the flaming fury of worry. When financial woes enter my life like an invading army, my defense is my relationship with the Lord who provides. The unexpected blow of physical infirmity might throw me off balance, but there is a healing hand I can reach for because I belong to Christ. In the valley of tears brought on by broken relationships, I need only be reminded of the place I belong and the power of reconciliation. In the solitude of my loneliness, You are ever near me, God. So let me not fear the desolation nor shrink back from the tribulation. You are more than a friend, than a brother, Jesus. You are my compassionate Savior. Focus my ears on Your voice, my heart on Your love, and my sight on eternity. Even in the valley of death’s shadow, I will not fear because Your hand and Your voice guide me home. Under the mighty and satisfying Word of God found in Isaiah 40:4 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I bow in humble prayer.
Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low. The uneven shall be made level, and the rough places a plain.
Isaiah 40:4, WEB
AMEN
