Sovereign, holy Lord, I praise You for the power that comes with assurance. Your hand keeps me safe, especially when life storms kick up a tempest and I am reminded that I am not alone. Only Your holy work could make good what often feels bad. Were it not for the mighty winds of adversity that challenge faith, how would I truly know how secure Your love is for me? Every trial is a lesson that grows faith. For it is the consolation of Your mercy which carries me through. When my wandering heart is unsettled by mysterious predicaments, I can still trust in You. When worldly sustenance is hard to come by and financial constraints whip up a tempest of anxiety, I can look to my God who sees me and provides. When deep sorrows overwhelm me like a flood, I have the honor of being reminded that it is well with my soul. From the well of salvation, I can draw the water of joy sip by sip. No matter the discouragement, the failure, the fear or the loss, I am rooted in the belief that You work all things together for good. Without such winds in my life, my faith untried would grow as weak and flabby as unused muscles. So let me praise You in the storm. Let me rejoice in the One who keeps me. Under the mighty blessing of the Lord’s Word in John 16:33 and the authority of Christ I pray.
