Gladly, my penitent soul waits upon You, my Lord and my God. Your favor is a precious treasure. Your holiness is my plumb line. Help me to measure my life against good and truth so that all pleasure and glory will be Yours. Too often I find myself engaging in comparison with my neighbor rather than love. This culture I am immersed in does not train one up to be patient and wait for the timing of the Lord. Chill my affections for those contrary ways of unholy living, Lord God. The only comparison I want to engage in is how much my life exemplifies Your truth. The only envy I want to harbor in my heart is a longing for eternal bliss. Warm my soul with an abundance of grace, Lord. I may move slow along the path of life, but with Your guidance, I will get there eventually. Make Your Word come alive as I love You wholeheartedly. And in doing so, may I also be equipped to holy love others rather than compare myself to them. And may I be empowered to rejoice instead of envy. May I glory in You rather than in anything the world has to offer. Take me as I am, Lord Jesus, but do not leave me here. Plant in my soul more faith, more trust, and an abundance of holiness. There is none like You, Lord God. Nothing else compares to Your goodness. Under the sweet Word of God in Isaiah 46:4-5 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.
Even to old age I am He,
and even to gray hairs I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear.
Yes, I will carry, and will deliver.
To whom will you compare Me, and consider My equal,
and compare Me, as if we were the same?
Isaiah 46:4-5, WEB
AMEN
