Despite the great chasm sin had forged between us, Your mercy expressed in love on the cross pulled me into Yourself, God. As Noah reached out to recapture his wandering dove who found no place to land, You have pulled my heart back to the safety of my covenant with You. Let not my affections be altered by the temporary enticement of worldly pleasure which is shaky ground not stable enough for truth to land, let alone build a foundation. Set my soul’s sight on the inalienable glory of heaven the place where I belong and the ark which keeps my faith secure. With the innocence of a child, let me find pleasure in serving my King, knowing that this earth is passing away but the love of my Savior will not be shaken. Make the joy in my heart as obvious as the olive branch clutched between the dove’s beak. A symbol that there is the promise of life beyond the imminent destruction of this world. I blush with holy reverence in knowing You and being known by You, Jesus. The ark is Yours to command. Let no trivial pleasures keep Your beloved away when the rain begins and the call to come away with You resonates deep in my soul. I delight to meet You in secret and come into Your presence with gratitude. Let the rains come. Those who take shelter in the Lord will find safety in the shadow of His wings. Under the beautiful reminder in Psalm 36:7-8 and the authority of Christ, I bow in prayer.
How precious is Your loving kindness, God!
The children of men take refuge under the shadow of Your wings.
They shall be abundantly satisfied with the abundance of Your house.
You will make them drink of the river of Your pleasures.
Psalm 36:7-8, WEB
Make the joy in my heart as obvious as the olive branch clutched between the dove’s beak. A symbol that there is the promise of life beyond the imminent destruction of this world-Amen!
