Awaken my soul with a spirit of conviction. Test my wayward heart and make the crooked straight again. Lord Jesus, You have set my soul to the flames not for the purpose of destruction but so the chaff of disobedience and rebellion in me would be turned to ash. Do not let the spark of hope be extinguished by personal misery. Shed light into my dark emotions Jesus, so that the shadows of discontent do not swallow me whole. Only in Your strength and according to Your will can I be brought to perfection. Only in Your love can I be fully forgiven. Though I once existed in unbelief, let me live now in faith. Because of my Savior, I can now do more than exist. Because of grace, I am privileged to thrive. No matter what trouble this world brings, let my heart rejoice because You have overcome the world, Jesus. Take me frequently to the realm of self-examination. Point out any grievous error in me, Lord. Let the flames of faith continually burn away the flammable toxins of ungodly emotions that rob me of life. Let me endure the present flames for as long as You will it Lord, accepting the refinement which inevitably comes. I would rather endure the temporary appointed flames in this life than those that burn eternal for not putting faith in You. Under the blessed authority and truth of Matthew 3:11-12 and my Savior Christ Jesus.
