Today’s Prayer

My Lord and King, Your servant delights in the astonishing power of Your majestic presence in my life. I need You, Jesus. Shine life into the unresponsive darkness of my soul through Your dazzling hues of unsurpassed grace. I want to be awakened to new understanding. I want to be grounded in truth that roots my faith. God, penetrate my empty voids with beams of perfecting light until the vacant hollows within are filled with the peace of Your promises. Keep me from chasing the shadows of pleasure in this world when true pleasure only comes from Your hand. True satisfaction can only be found in Your Kingdom. Encompass my moments with merciful truth that shares all You have given me. My soul’s gaze lingers upon the holiness of Your presence in sheer delight. Make me an offering of light by empowering me to shine in the days given me. Empower me through Your Spirit to complete those tasks which You lovingly assigned. Make me fruitful, Lord, as I abide in the vine of Your Word, of Your nearness, of You. Vanquish my inclination to follow shadowy illusions, Lord. Lift me out of the cloaking of life’s pains until Your Spirit dresses me with the radiance of Your righteousness. You are good. You are holy. I am Yours. Under the Word of truth imparted in John 1:1-4 and the authority of Christ, I pray.

The Word was first,
    the Word present to God,
    God present to the Word.
The Word was God,
    in readiness for God from day one.
Everything was created through Him;
    nothing—not one thing!—
    came into being without Him.
What came into existence was Life,
    and the Life was Light to live by.
The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness;
    the darkness couldn’t put it out.
