“A rosy glow touched her cheeks as her dark lashes lowered. When they lifted and allowed her eyes to meet his, something shifted in Titus’s chest. Something he very much feared was his immunity to beautiful women unmooring and floating away.”
Fairest of All by Karen Witemeyer proved to be another captivating tale. To be completely honest, these books have provided me with so much reading enjoyment. Possessing a fairytale essence, an engaging narrative, devoted spiritual undertones, and a deeply sweet romance, this book was perfect for getting lost in.
The juxtaposition of Miss Penelope Snow’s radiant innocence and Titus Kingsley’s world-weary cynicism regarding life and relationships was something I truly cherished about the story. The love at first sight wasn’t overly dramatic to the point of being unbelievable. Instead, the resistance to it added a good dose of humor. Even the side characters, seven grandfatherly ranch hands, had me chuckling a time or two.
This book was a perfect reimagining of Snow White, capturing all the magic of the original tale tucked in the folds of a historical setting. I loved the story’s effortless narrative, its distinct literary voice, and its flawless pacing. Once I reached the fourth chapter, I found the book utterly gripping and couldn’t stop reading, devouring it at a breakneck pace. This book masterfully weaves together threads of historical fiction, romance, and fairy tale retelling, making it a superb addition to the series. A five-star read for me!
