My Review

FAVORITE QUOTE:

“Aware or not didn’t change the fact Liora was his, given to him by the god Yahweh. What would it take to convince Nebuzaradan otherwise? What would make him believe that this theft was merely a delay in their god-appointed fate, a tale of love they’d one day recount to their children?

With poetic devotion saturating every chapter, A Love Unmatched by April Gardner whisked me back to the tragic unfolding of Jerusalem’s demise as prophesied by Jeremiah. The slow-burning love story between the Butcher of Babylon and his delicate dove, Liora, reaches its climactic conclusion in a way that doesn’t disappoint.

I savored the richness of the prose in this story as it peeled back the most delicate layers of the characters’ souls. After two books of witnessing their shared history and enduring their struggles together, I found myself completely captivated by the outcome of their romance. The historical details woven through the plot add an almost tragic touch to the narrative. Reading about the destruction of Jerusalem and the temple beneath the flames of imagination made the despair so real that it urged me to bolster my own faith.

The heartbeat of this book beats with eloquent introspection and character connection. Liora’s tenacious belief is something admirable, as her character arc takes her full circle in this book. It isn’t possible not to be touched by the growth in other characters simply because of her. Similarly, the Butcher’s story is one of endearment despite its jagged edges.

This book, unlike its predecessor, unfolds at a leisurely, reflective pace, imbuing it with profound spiritual insights. Each chapter hums with pent-up energy, emotional weight, lightheartedness, and tenderness. The narrative plunges you into a spectrum of emotions before reaching its divine resolution. To fully appreciate the interconnectedness of the story, I highly recommend reading the books sequentially, as they are designed to be experienced as one cohesive tale. For fans of biblical fiction, this series is unforgettable. It is definitely on my read-again list.
