Today’s Prayer

My heart is delightfully preoccupied with thoughts of You, my Lord and King. My soul is joyfully reaching toward heaven’s glory even while my body is tethered to this earth. Yet, my selfishness troubles the peace You have given me, my Lord. My prideful inclinations poison the fruit of a life lived in the power of Your Spirit. Help me to crucify my flesh daily, Jesus. Grant me the strength to pick up the beautiful cross Your carpenter’s hands have chiseled out of history especially for me, Jesus. When I am weary, send me a helper to shoulder the burden, but do not allow me to put down that which You have commanded me to pick up and carry. Raise me up in the strength of divine love to claim the resurrected life of Christ as the horizon upon which my gaze is set. Make the triumphal legacy of my life bring You glory. Under the power of Your Word in 2 Corinthians 2:14 and the authority of Christ Jesus, I humbly pray.

But thanks be unto God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ,
and makes manifest through us the savor of His knowledge in every place.
2 Corinthians 2:14, ASB
