Lord, the tendrils of my faith reach out to wrap around the sweet and sturdy promise that I will one day be where You are. Echoes of that ancient prayer which fell from Your lips, kissing the present with the past, are still heard within the soul of Your beloved: “Father, I will that where I am they may be also.” With the power of such a prayer, You have broken off death’s sting. You have crossed the boundary of time and space with such an eternal supplication of love. How my heart delights that my life is only a preface to the grand story You have written. Though death’s shadow haunts the valley of my sojourning, I will not walk in fear because You are with me to show me the way home. You will be there to hold my hand as I step through death’s veil. Under the Word given in Psalm 23:1-3 and the authority of cross, I bow in humble prayer with a heart full of grateful adoration.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.[a]
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness[b]
for His Name’s sake.
