Today’s Prayer

My Lord and Savior, my heart bows before You – who fell upon the earth in agony unbeknownst to me while in the Garden of Gethsemane. Can my soul even fathom the depth of love that drew blood out from Your brow as all my sin came crushing down on You before even a whip was allowed to rip Your flesh? Yet, You voluntarily bled for me in prayer. You agonized with God, encircled in the divine plan of salvation for those called by Your Name. It was Your choice to give up Your life for the sake of Your beloved. It was Your unfathomable love that brought such a sacrifice. It was my heinous sin that required it. Let my soul never grow apathetic to the gift of anguish Your cross spared me. In the ignorance of my own humanity, I cannot possibly understand the value of Your sacrifice. I can only worship and praise my Savior from the depths of spiritual response that does not need my mind’s agreement. Thank You, Jesus, for loving me first so that I could love at all. Under the mighty Word of Luke 22:44 and the authority of the love of Christ, I kneel before You in grateful prayer.

And being in agony He prayed more earnestly;
and His sweat became like great drops of blood
falling down to the ground.
Luke 22:44, ESV
